Las Vegas Realtors of Prudential Americana Group Hold Giant Garage Sale for Charity
There are over 1,500 real estate agents and employees
of Prudential American Group who are joining hands for The Sunshine Kids’
funds-raising. On the second year, the Las
Vegas Realtors of Prudential Americana Group will hold a giant garage sale
for The Sunshine Kids at 7 a.m.
Saturday on its corporate offices, 2140 S. Pebbles Ave., just west of Eastern
Avenue. This event for the Sunshine Kids will continue until all items have
been sold.
During the year 1991, the national Prudential
Americana Group adopted The Sunshine Kids and began supporting the group. Diane
Ray, co-chairman of The Sunshine Committee said that Las Vegas Realtors of Prudential Americana Group became involved
with the charity when they met the children at an event in 2005.
Ray affirmed that sales executives contribute through
their commission, they donate as much as they on every closing packet they do,
and the Prudential matches up to $10,000. The six Southern Nevada offices
raised $177,000 in 2006.
Mark Stark, chief executive officer of Prudential
Americana Group said that The Sunshine Kids is an organization that they help
wholeheartedly. He also said that it was last year that they have raised
$10,000 through the garage sale, and they are looking forward to an even
turnout this year.
Prudential employees are contributing clothes, toys,
books, furniture, and office equipment for the sale. This event is open for the
public to shop or donate items to the sale.
According to Ray, it was last year’s garage sale that
some people came in and dressed their entire family for the school year. He
also said that another family purchased their first washer and dryer at the
sale.
Stark stated that their team is always very generous
in donating items that they know will be popular sellers.
Unsold Items will be donated to Opportunity Village.
Ray said that this brings their company a lot closer
together by working as whole for the same cause.
Disc jockey and
a bounce house will be available at the garage sale. Hot dogs, hamburgers and
soda will also be on sale.
Established in 1982, The Sunshine Kids is a national
non-profit organization that is dedicated to provide activities, trips and
events to children with cancer. All the money raised at the garage sale will be
earmark to group, which provides an array of programs and events, free of
charge, for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals all over
North America.
Shannon Malone, director of operations with The Sunshine
Kids stated that the kids get to meet other kids who are going through the same
things that they are, and the kids in school don’t know what they are going
through.
The organization is affiliated locally with Sunrise
Hospital and Medical Center. Last year, Las
Vegas Realtors of Prudential Americana Group helped send children from Las
Vegas to Disneyland, Universal Studios and other entertainment destinations.
All donations are welcome at Prudential Americana’s
office at 2140 S. Pebble Ave. Office hours are from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. Donations are tax deductible and will be accepted at the sale on the day
of the event.
