Protect Las Vegas Homes from Pesky Bedbugs
Insects and pests are annoying to have in Las Vegas homes and the worst of these are bedbugs. According to
MarketWatch, 95% of 1,000 U.S. and international pest management companies testified
an encounter with bedbug infestation in the previous year. This statistic went
up from 25% ten years ago.
Bedbugs are widespread in
urban and suburban areas where people live closely together. This is the most
difficult pest to treat, according to a recent survey. Eliminating these
bedbugs may even cost you hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
Las Vegas homes infested
with bedbugs might need to replace an entire furniture set. These bedbugs will spread
themselves to the carpet, clothes, desks, mattresses and even electrical
outlets. Left unabated, they will be everywhere inside your home in a very short time.
Bedbug infestation has
become a worldwide epidemic and has appeared from coast to coast throughout the
U.S. The 15 most popular locations for these bloodsucking pests in the United States,
according to a report from Terminix, are as follows:
The first site is New York, followed by Philadelphia. Third spot is
Detroit. The fourth location is Cincinnati and then follows Chicago. The sixth
city is Denver followed by Columbus, Ohio. Eighth place goes to Dayton, Ohio.
Next is Washington, D.C. Tenth place is in Los Angeles and eleventh is Boston.
The last four are Indianapolis; Louisville, Kentucky; Cleveland; and
Minneapolis, Minnesota.
For concerned homeowners
living near these areas, you may want to prevent an infestation inside your
house by knowing what to look for. A bedbug is brownish or reddish in color and
has a flat body. Its size is similar to an apple seed, and they leave spots of
blood and droppings that look like pepper flakes.
If you are traveling, examine
your hotel room for bedbugs. Observe for brown stains bedbugs leave on sheets.
Use a luggage rack to place your belongings as much as possible. Upon reaching
home, wash your clothes in hot water immediately as high temperature kills bugs
that might be hiding in your clothes.
Observe
any similar signs of bedbug infestation at work. If you have a suspicion of bug
infestation, report it at once. Maintain the cleanliness in your work area. You
don’t want to carry a bedbug back to your home.
