Shannon and Larissa Gaccione of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties Named Volunteers of the Year
Mother-daughter entrepreneurs awarded for outstanding service
LAS VEGAS (November 27, 2018) – Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties congratulates Shannon and Larissa Gaccione for their recognition as Volunteers of the Year at the 2018 Angel Awards, hosted by Vegas Inc. The mother-daughter real estate team volunteers with dozens of organizations and hosts regular fundraising events for non-profit organizations in Southern Nevada.
Shannon and Larissa’s Gaccione’s passion for service began when their nephew Cooper was diagnosed with leukemia, and they came together to raise funds to pay for his treatment. Larissa also faced a cancer battle when she was diagnosed on her 19th birthday with thyroid cancer. Though Cooper lost his fight, Larissa has been declared cancer-free and the pair are dedicated to helping others who are struggling with illnesses.
“Shannon and Larissa Gaccione are two of the most generous people I know, and I’m so proud to work with them to support their businesses,” said Mark Stark, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties. “It’s people like them that brighten our communities and give us hope for the future.”
“Larissa and I are very passionate about helping others and providing assistance to those who need it during critical, trying times,” said Shannon Gaccione. “With our personal experience with cancer and after going through Larissa’s battle with the disease, we feel it is important to provide support, educate and raise awareness however we can.”
Shannon and Larissa are involved with a number of organizations locally, including the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. The tightly-knit cancer community introduced them to Dorian, a monster truck-enthusiastic boy battling cancer. Learning of Dorian’s affinity, the Gacciones arranged with a local truck club for 50 monster trucks to surprise him at his birthday, along with a massive monster truck cake.
The Gacciones have hosted several fundraising events for children with cancer, and Shannon is a regular contributor to the Teacher Next Door Program, which works to increase home ownership among educators.
Like her mother, Larissa is involved in a number of causes. Through GLVAR, Larissa recently partnered with Project 150 to support their annual Prom Dress Drive for Homeless Youth; Larissa’s volunteer coordination brought onsite hair, makeup and nail services to the 2018 event. She is also an active member of the Battling Betties raising money for military veterans, and recently partnered with Westfield Eye Center to deliver more than 6,500 pairs of donated eyeglasses to victims in Haiti.
Their business is equally philanthropic, regularly supporting awareness programs for childhood cancer, cerebral palsy, breast cancer, Lyme disease, and cancer-related charities. The firm also makes ongoing contributions to local animal charities, donates to and participates with various causes, adopts underprivileged families for Christmas, and recently made a major contribution to SAFE House.
